Congratulations!

You committed to growing your web presence specifically through the use of social media. Then you checked out our introductory blog on the “60-Day Plan for Social Media Success.” Now you know what to expect, you’ve learned key words, your website and blog are ready to go, and you’re prepared to move forward with Phase I.

It’s time to begin the process of becoming a Social Media Superstar.

The 60-Day Plan: Phase I The first section is designed to familiarize you with posting on your blog as well as using the top four social media websites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+. Remember, this will require a lot of work up front, but it’s also supposed to be fun. Put in the effort now and reap the benefits later.

Let's get started:

Day 1: Sign-up for Facebook (www.facebook.com) and Twitter (www.twitter.com). Fill out your profiles completely including pictures, links, and other information.

Day 2: Sign-up for Linkedin (www.linkedin.com) and Google+ (www.plus.google.com). Fill out your profiles completely including pictures, links, and other information.

Day 3: Send social media site invites to all of your customers, prospects, and vendors along with an announcement / message about your new “social media” presence. Be sure to include links to your personal profiles on each of the four social networking sites above.

Day 4: Write a blog article about something related to your niche. Make sure that it is interesting and informative – NOT a sales pitch.

Day 5: Post your blog article from yesterday and share it on your social media sites. You can also submit it to sites like Digg and StumbleUpon (if you’d like to go an extra step) and ask your friends/fans to share/like/comment.

You’ve made it one work week!

Day 6-10: Find one good article or blog post related to your niche and make a comment (preferably with a link back to your website). Share this same article/post with your friends and your social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Google+).

Day 11: Write a blog article about something related to your niche. Make sure that it is interesting and informative – NOT a sales pitch.

Day 12: Post your blog article from yesterday and share it on your social media sites. You can also submit it to Digg and StumbleUpon and ask your friends/fans to share/like/comment on it.

Day 13-17: Find one good article or blog post related to your niche and make a comment (preferably with a link back to your website). Share this same article/post with your friends and your social media sites.

Day 18: Write a blog article about something related to your niche. Make sure that it is interesting and informative – NOT a sales pitch.

Day 19: Post your blog article from yesterday and share it on your social media sites. You can also submit it to Digg and StumbleUpon and ask your friends/fans to share/like/comment on it.

As you can see, the first phase is one cycle. It is simple by design, and the purpose is to help ease you into using social media and create a rhythm. If you have any questions or suggestions to make this even better, interact with us using your social media:

Phase II will be posted in a few weeks, so be sure to check back to continue the plan.
