When the calendar turns to September, it can only mean one thing: It’s Life Insurance Awareness Month!

For our industry, this may very well be the single most important month of the year. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness for a service that is vastly underutilized. In fact, 30% of U.S. residents don’t have any kind of life insurance and less than half have the proper coverage for themselves and their family, according to LIMRA studies.

Yet, no other product can protect a family as well as life insurance.

As agents, we hear our clients talk more about the perceived expense more than any other aspect. Ironically, life insurance is less expensive than most think, and the protection it offers is invaluable.

Just ask 2013 LIAM Spokesperson, former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason!

When he was 7 years old, Boomer’s mother passed away from cancer. Unfortunately, she didn’t own life insurance. Boomer’s father was left to raise his three children alone. He did it, and Boomer ultimately became an NFL MVP quarterback. But the family certainly saw financial struggles along the way and had to lean on friends and family for support.

Now an on-air analyst for CBS and The NFL Today, Boomer Esiason is lending his voice and support to the Life Insurance Awareness Month campaign.
